Your privacy matters. This policy explains clearly what information Veteran Career Path collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Veteran Career Path platform.
- Generate AI-powered career matches, resumes, cover letters, and interview prep tailored to your specific background.
- Save your profile data across sessions and devices.
- Process payments and manage your subscription.
- Send account-related notifications (receipts, password resets, important updates).
- Provide customer support when you contact us.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
We do not use your military service data, resume content, or job application history for advertising purposes. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
4. AI Processing
Veteran Career Path uses artificial intelligence to generate career recommendations, resume content, cover letters, and interview preparation materials. Your profile data is sent to the AI model to produce these results. We use the Anthropic API for AI-powered features.
AI-generated content is produced automatically and may contain errors or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before using it in job applications or other professional contexts.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your profile data is stored using Google Firebase, a secure cloud database service. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmission.
- Firebase security rules restricting access to your own data.
- Password hashing via Firebase Authentication.
- API key storage using browser storage with session protection.
No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our active databases within 30 days. Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days after deletion.
You can delete your account by contacting us at [email protected].
7. Data Sync & Local Storage
When you create an account, your data is stored securely in the cloud via Google Firebase and syncs across any device you sign in on. This includes your military service profile, civilian work history, education, career targets, saved resumes, cover letters, emails, score reports, and job tracker entries.
We also use your browser's local storage for a small number of session-level preferences that do not need to be stored server-side:
- Subscription access status — cached locally to avoid a server check on every page load. Your actual subscription is verified server-side.
- Job tracker entries — also saved locally as a backup so the tracker works even if you are briefly offline. These are synced to Firebase when you are signed in.
Clearing your browser's local storage or cookies will sign you out of your session, but your profile data, saved resumes, and job tracker are safely stored in your Firebase account and will be restored the next time you sign in. You will not lose your work.
8. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that have their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase: Authentication and database storage. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Anthropic: AI model API. Anthropic Privacy Policy
We link to external job boards (Indeed, USAJobs, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, ClearanceJobs) as a convenience. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Veteran Career Path is intended for adults 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
